Question by crazy_ari_girl: What happens when a woman in the military gets pregnant?

I lived on a military base for two years, and this never came up, to my knowledge. Are women allowed to get pregnant while in the military? Is it encouraged? Discouraged? Is there some kind of penalty?

What about women who get pregnant while on tour somewhere in the world? It seems like there would be a lot of women in Iraq getting pregnant just to go home. Or maybe there's a ban on sex in a war zone.

I'm really curious now, I've never heard anyone discuss this. Any military people out there have answers for me?
